South of the Border

This weekend I visited a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combo in the southern part of the state. Rightfully so, I have adjusted my boycott of Taco Bell to just include the Erie area restaurants. My visit this weekend was quick, the tables cleanly, the cashier was nice and cheerful, the food was hot and good, and the place took plastic directly instead of the stupid funny-money the Erie stores make you buy.

Kernel Changelog

Over my years using Linux, I’ve been mentioned for fixing or helping to track down bugs in many changelogs for various open source software applications. Thursday was my first mention in the Linux Kernel changelog. You can find my name in here. That is all.

A Lime with that?

So Jenn and I walk into a bar and order a Corona and a Smirnoff Twisted Green Apple. Instead of asking if we’d like a lime/lemon in the Corona, she asks who’s it for first. Hello - I’m wearing a freakin Corona shirt. She then proceeds to almost put a lemon in it after I said lime. She’s lucky she still had her looks.

TV Problems again

After my first 721 Dish Network Reciever arriving dead, Dish replaced it for free and even cross-shipped. The second worked great, until now. The Electronic Guide stopped working and this is a known problem in their software. I called support and they say it was supposed to be fixed in firmware version 1.76 (I’m running 1.75, the latest), which was supposed to be out in May 2005. The tech offered me a replacement, no more questions asked, but I have 90+ hours worth of recorded materials on it, most of which is unwatched. Anyone else know that the one they ship me is just going to break the same way when it gets flashed to 1.75? I’m almost ready to try cable again.

Steak n Shake

The Brothers Wiertel have been talking up Steak ‘n Shake for years it seems now. Thanks to a newly built one on Rt20 just outside of PA, I am no longer a Steak ‘n Shake virgin. Good it was.
